Arlington TX Real Estate Timeless Appeal

Arlington is a city in Tarrant County, Texas with an estimated population of 367,197.  Ever since the Roaring Twenties, one of the advantages of owning a home in Arlington or Arlington Heights, Texas is the location near Fort Worth ’s business district.  Although the oil boom in the 1920s is responsible for the grand, classic mansions and Arlington Heights homes near Rivercrest in this Tarrant County real estate, many cherish the quaint affordable cottages and smaller historic Arlington houses as well.

North Texas real estate retains the character of days gone by, of cowboys and cattle drives, blended with lovely master-planned communities and Arlington TX neighborhoods that could grace the cover of any House Beautiful.  The exciting history of real estate in Fort Worth and its Arlington TX suburb adds a richness to the communities that is deeper than any oilrig knows and as bubbly as Johnson Creek, a tributary of the Trinity River, flows.

Located approximately 12 miles east of downtown Fort Worth real estate and 20 miles (32 km) west of downtown Dallas, the city borders Kennedale, Grand Prairie, Mansfield, and surrounds the smaller communities of Dalworthington Gardens and Pantego.

Settlement in the area dates back at least to the 1840 when the rich soil of the area attracted farmers, and several agriculture-related businesses.  Founded in 1876, its namesake is Robert E. Lee’s Arlington House in Virginia.  Automotive and aerospace development gave the city one of the nation’s greatest population growth rates between 1950 and 1990.

Generations share stories of wide-open plains to the west and roller coasters further east that are home to The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), the Southeast Campus of Tarrant County College, and Arlington Baptist College, Six Flags Over Texas and Wet N Wild Amusement Parks, and the Texas Rangers baseball team, and future home of the Dallas Cowboys.

Residents live in three independent school districts (ISDs):  Arlington ISD, Mansfield ISD, and Kennedale ISD as school-district boundaries in the state do not always follow city and county boundaries.  High school football is the most popular sport in the state.

Two Interstate Highways I-20 and I-30 as well as Texas State Highway 360 serve the city along the eastern border and U.S. Route 287 through the southwestern portion of the city.  In 2006, I-20 became the Ronald Reagan Memorial Highway.
