Vibrant Communities of Denton County TX

Denton County real estate reaches over 958 square miles in the great state of Texas right in the middle of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.  Denton County is approaching a population of 600,000, ranking as the 13th fastest-growing county in the United States.

The City of Denton, TX is the county seat, which serves the following communities inside the Denton County boundaries.  There is no shortage of other lively communities and buyers find Denton County, Texas homes ranging from single-family estates along beautiful North Texas golf courses to downtown neighborhoods that offer many amenities.

Ask about Argyle, Aubrey, Bartonville, Copper Canyon, Corinth, Corral City, Cross Roads, Double Oak, Flower Mound, Hackberry, and Haslet.  Then there are Hebron, Hickory Creek, Highland Village, Justin, Krugerville, Krum, Lake Dallas, Lakewood Village, Lewisville, Lincoln Park, Little Elm, Marshall Creek, Northlake, Oak Point, Pilot Point, Ponder, Roanoke, Sanger, Shady Shores, The Colony, and Trophy Club.  Small portions of several bordering cities such as Carrollton, Dallas, Fort Worth, Frisco, Plano, Southlake, and Westlake are also within the county.

Denton County sits atop a portion of the Barnett Shale, a geological formation believed to contain large quantities of natural gas.  The thriving economies in the area reap tax revenues related to gas drilling and production.  Additionally, during the last thirty years large companies, proximity to an international airport, and a diverse mix of creative enterprises—stronger than the shale underground—have vastly increased the economic stability of the region.

Easily accessible via a large network of major highways (I-35, U.S. Highways 77, 377, 380, State Highways 114 and 121, and the Texas State Highway Loop 288, residents can readily get where they want to go.  Most recently, the median income for a household in the county was $58,216, and the median income for a family was $69,292.

The county and the city chose John B. Denton, an influential preacher, lawyer, and soldier as their namesakes.  Founded in 1846, preservation of the rich historic past began in 1977 with the registration and protection of the old Denton County Courthouse as a National Register of Historic Places.  Other surrounding buildings on the main square subsequently joined the list.
